Joe Colombo (1930–1971) was an Italian designer whose experimental vision became closely associated with the technological and cultural optimism of 1960s Italian design. His work explored new materials, modularity and transformable living systems, combining industrial production with a distinctly futuristic approach to furniture and interiors. Collaborations with Oluce, Kartell, Comfort and Sormani produced influential designs including the Elda armchair, 4801 chair, Spider lamp and Additional modular seating system.
