Gio Ponti (1891–1979) was an Italian architect, designer and editor whose work played a central role in shaping twentieth-century Italian design. Moving between architecture, furniture, ceramics and interiors, he combined modern experimentation with a deep engagement with Italian craftsmanship. His collaborations with Richard Ginori, FontanaArte and especially Cassina produced influential designs including the Leggera and Superleggera chairs, alongside numerous seating and furnishing projects.
